If you’ve ever dreamed of a modern-day country romance with a Pride and Prejudice twist, this month’s Big Library Read on OverDrive is just the wild-west-head-over-heels romance you have been waiting for.

OverDrive is available as an app or from a computer internet browser. Readers can join in on an online discussion until July 30, 2018.
Big Library Read, Cowboy Pride, tells the story of Liza Bennett and Rob Darcy as they fall in love despite Darcy's poor first impression. Meanwhile, Liza works to keep her family's shop afloat and help her shy sister, Janie Bennett, find love. Janie finds herself falling for the charming Nathan Bingley, but after a spring storm leaves her injured, Liza and Janie soon find out if first impressions are lasting.
The bestselling author of Cowboy Pride Oklahoman Lacy Williams, said she always knew she was destined to be a writer but earned a bachelor’s in accounting at her parent's request. After graduation and marriage, she came back to writing and sold her first book to Harlequin in 2010.
Williams has since written over 30 books, inspired by her deep-rooted love for cowboys that started with her dad reading Louis L’Amour to her as a child on the family farm.
“It just seems natural for me to love cowboys and write about them,” Williams said.
Williams is now married with four children and she said as soon as she gets the kids off to school she's writing.
“I typically write a fast first draft, then revise, and then send the manuscript on to my editing team. The total time from draft to publication usually takes a couple of months,” she said.
Williams uses the library as a resource for her research while writing historical fiction and as a place for inspiration during the writing process.
“The online catalog search and the ability to place holds on items is invaluable for me while I write with little kids underfoot,” she said.
She suggests that writers early in their career find a writing group or mentor and never stop learning.
Williams was a finalist in the RT Book Reviews Reviewers’ Choice Awards (2012, 2013, & 2014), the Golden Quill and the Booksellers Best Award. She is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers, Romance Writers of America, ALLi, and Novelists Inc.
