    Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy game powered by imagination that has been around for 42 years, despite controversy and labeling. The possibilities are endless and each game changes depending on the ‘dungeon master,’ who is the storyteller for the game.  Teens who like to play, or want to try it out for the first time, can head to the Southern Oaks Library, 6900 S. Walker, Saturday, March 12, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

  • Fan Fiction & Fan Art Contest

    January 4, 2016, is the first day to submit entries to the Southern Oaks Library Fan-Fiction Fan-Art contest. Fan art may be any medium and contain original characters, but must contain copyrighted characters as the main theme. Similar rules apply to fan fiction. The last day to submit your work is Sunday, March 20 at 6:00pm, 2016. The announcement party is at Southern Oaks Library, 6900 S Walker Ave.

According Healthline.com, one in 10 Americans has symptoms of clinical depression, but over 80 percent of those are not receiving treatment.  Oklahoma is listed as one of the seven states with the highest rates of depression. The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance reports that depression is one of the top three workplace issues.

    In After School at Your Library, local artists at select library locations work with teens on a weekly basis, using creative projects to encourage and reinforce positive interactions, teach skills, and provide an outlet for artistic expression. Every participating library location has a different artist with a different specialty and project focus. Sometimes it's visual art like drawing and painting, sometimes it's film and video production, or creative movement and dance.
