Information Needs

Library Catalog and Renewals

The collection is listed in a computerized catalog. You may access the catalog with CyberMARS Computers located in every library, or with your library card through the library's web page using the Catalog & Databases tab. With Catalog & Databases you can also:

  • View your borrowing record and recheck borrowed items
  • Place materials on reserve
  • Search library databases
  • Enotify

E-Notify is a library service that allows you to have notifications for reserved materials ready for pick-up and overdue materials sent to your e-mail address rather than receiving them through the postal service. On reserve pick-up, you must confirm that you have received the e-mail within 24 hours or you will still receive the paper notice through the mail.

    How do I sign up?

Click on the Catalog & Databases (CyberMars) tab on the library's webpage at http://www.metrolibrary.org. Once the CyberMars page comes up, logon using your library card and the first four letters of your last name. On the Welcome screen, there will be a link to sign up for E-Notify.

What do I do if my e-mail address changes?

Use the Catalog & Databases (CyberMars) tab on the library's webpage at http://www.metrolibrary.org. Logon to CyberMars, then click on the Email Notification Member link on the Welcome screen. Highlight your old e-mail address, press backspace or delete to remove it, type in your new e-mail address, then click Submit to register the new e-mail address.

    Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan service lets MLS serve customers needing books, magazine or journal articles the library system does not own. Forms for requesting materials through interlibrary loan are available in the libraries. This service is free; however, the cost of copies is sometimes passed along to the customer.

    Reference Services

Professional librarians are available to help customers meet their information needs. Some information needs require computer database searches, which the library staff is happy to provide. Request information assistance by visiting or calling your library. The staff makes every effort to respond to all requests within 48 hours.
