Classical Piano Concert At Belle Isle Library

When you combine the purity of music that goes straight to the soul with the clarity of over 60 years of classical musicianship, you have a concert well worth attending.

The Metropolitan Library System's Belle Isle Library, at 5501 N. Villa, is presenting just that concert on June 25 from 2 to 3 p.m. when classical pianist Wayne McEvilly brings The Romance of Chopin to Oklahoma City music lovers.

McEvilly, who has been presenting the charm of classical piano compositions to school and library audiences for over 30 years, moved to Oklahoma City from California in 2004 and has become a fixture on the music scene with concerts performed around the state. His performances reflect his interest in seeing that people "come to know the value of music beyond entertainment, to know its fabulous, mystical, educational and spiritual dimensions."

"We're thrilled to have Wayne at Belle Isle," said Priscilla Doss, Belle Isle's Manager of Library Operations. "There's nothing

McEvilly, who has presented a series of Mozart recitals for the Metropolitan Library System, is also a great match for Chopin, whose music, while it can be technically difficult, is all about emotion and subtlety.

" There is," one music historian wrote, "a classical purity and discretion in his music, with little Romantic exhibitionism, personified by his reverence of Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ."
