Children's Book Illustrator At Choctaw Library

Whether it's dogs, cats, or the kids next door, Oklahoma City illustrator of children's books Danny Gordon has drawn it. And if he's drawn it, he loved doing it.

He should. He's been drawing since he was five years old, missing many a meal when he was lost in his art.

And Danny will be bringing his talent and love of working with children to the Choctaw Library on June 15 for two sessions aptly called "Danny's Coming, Get Ready to Draw." He will be chatting and working with young children from 2 to 3 p.m. , and then with teens from 6 to 7 p.m.

Gordon was a fashion illustrator for C.R. Anthony department stores prior to their closing in 1997. Since then, Gordon has been a free-lance illustrator of greeting cards, magazines and books. Currently, his line of whimsical drawings of dogs-his Danny's Doggies series contains over 100 drawings--is a hot seller via his website, www.dannygordon.com .

KOTV - The News on 6 , said of him that " Danny Gordon 's life as an artist has him realizing that he's just a big kid at heart. That's why he feels at home illustrating books and drawing caricatures for children. "

Come to the Choctaw Library on June 15 to meet Danny and pick up some tips for the beginning illustrator. His program is free and open to the public. Call the library at 390-8418 for more information.
