You can have Halloween and even Thanksgiving without singing, but what's Christmas without the gift of music?
Come to the RJN Downtown Library on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006 , for A Holiday Extravaganza featuring the Spiritful Voices Community Choir. The singers will set the mood for your holiday season with a concert from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. , and then the Metropolitan Library System staff will show you and your children how to make some special holiday crafts until 4:00 .
“We feel so honored to have Spiritful Voices come to the Downtown Library to sing for us,” said librarian Darlene Browers. “If you've never had the pleasure of hearing them before, you really ought to come out to hear them on Dec. 3.”
The choir is a not-for-profit organization that operates out of Oklahoma City . It is composed of 50 voices, men and women all over the age of 18.
“The choir,” Browers continued, “is very careful to point out that their name is ‘spiritful,' not ‘spiritual.' ‘Spiritful' mean lively, full of spirit, and once you experience one of their performances, you'll know that's the right word, too.” In addition to the concert, the choir and library have something special planned for the children in attendance.
“I won't say who will be there,” Browers added, “but we do have a special guest scheduled to appear. A very grinchy special guest. So come for the concert, and stay for the cookies and crafts. Create holiday cards, decorations and gift packaging, or relax and enjoy cookies and coffee. There will be arts and craft activities designed for children, teens and adults, so make it a family affair.”
A Holiday Extravaganza is co-sponsored by the Metropolitan Library System and the Spiritful Voices Community Choir, Inc.
