Hunter's Safety Course Offered at MLS Libraries

Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck arguing over whether it's "duck or wabbit" season provide funny moments in some classic cartoons, but there's nothing funny about unsafe hunting conditions. The Metropolitan Library System and the Oklahoma Department. of Wildlife Conservation are joining together to make sure that hunters come home in one piece this fall.

"The next Hunter's Education Safety Course is being held at Midwest City

Library on October 7, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. " said Midwest City adult program coordinator, Rich Antonisse. "Participants who successfully complete home-study materials and subsequently attend this course will complete the requirements for the 'home study'

version of the Oklahoma Hunter Education Program."

The Midwest City Library, 8143 E. Reno , and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation have co-sponsored this educational opportunity for several years, and it has always been successful.

"The course may be attended by those 10 years of age and older with the condition that those 12 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult," Antonisse added.

The Metropolitan Library System of Oklahoma County includes 12 libraries and five extension libraries. Libraries include Belle Isle, Capitol Hill, Ralph Ellison, Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library and Southern Oaks in Oklahoma City, as well as Bethany, Choctaw, Del City, Edmond, Midwest City, Village and Warr Acres. Extensions are located in the communities of Harrah, Jones, Luther and Nicoma Park and include Wright Library in Oklahoma City . You can also reach us at www.metrolibrary.org.
