Paul Mesner Puppets to Perform During Spring Break

The Paul Mesner Puppets will present The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs by A. Wolf during spring break week, March 13-17 at 11 Metropolitan Library System locations.

This revised tale tells the story of The Three Little Pigs from the wolf's perspective, and what really went on during all that huffing and puffing.

The man behind the puppets, Paul Mesner, has been telling classic children's stories through puppetry for more than 15 years and travels across the country from Seattle to San Antonio to tell them.

Mesner was accepted at a year-long course at the prestigious International Institute of Puppetry in Charleville-Mezier , France . On his return to the United States , he founded his puppet company in Kansas City , Missouri . He and his puppets frequently perform in collaboration with the Kansas City Symphony and The Kansas City Ballet.

Mesner prefers the classic repertoire of tales and myths "because they offer life lessons intertwined with the engrossing stories," said Mesner.

Mesner performs magic on the puppet stage and incorporates slapstick humor at a break neck performance pace to make stories simultaneously entertaining to children and amusing to adults.

Paul Mesner and his puppets will perform March 13 at the Village Library at 11 a.m. and at the Warr Acres Library at 4 p.m. ; March 14 at 10 a.m. at the Ralph Ellison Library and 1 p.m. at the Capitol Hill Library; March 15 at 10 a.m. at the Midwest City Library, and at 2:30 p.m. at the

Bethany Library; March 16 at 10 a.m. at the Edmond Library and at 1 p.m. at the Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library, and at 7 p.m. at the Belle Isle Library .

The shows will continue March 17 at 10 a.m. at the Del City Library and at 2 p.m. at the Southern Oaks Library.

The puppet shows, free and open to the public, are co-sponsored by the Friends of the Metropolitan Library System and the Oklahoma Arts Council.
