| A. Introduction |
The European landscape at the time of World War I was comprised of a vast collection of different cultures, ethnic groups, and political entities. However, the onset of the "Great War" all but destroyed the fabric of the continent. Fortunately, European creativity flourished amidst a background of terrible suffering and atrocity. The art movement known as Dadaism, the birth of German Bauhaus architecture, and a resurgence in British poetry all came to their fruition during this pivotal era of history.
