Ali Rap
(Genius Products, c2006)
Shelf Number: 796.83/AL398ar/VIDEO/DISC
A documentary built on the premise that Muhammad Ali invented rap simply by being himself. Although it may be hard to accept, it is still an interesting theory. Half of the documentary features non-rapper celebrities reciting famous Ali quotations (mostly not very well). However, the archival footage of Ali talking is amazing. Arguably the greatest boxer of the 20th century, Ali is also one of the most charismatic conversationalists ever. |

The Audacity of Hope
Barack Obama (Random House Audio, c2006)
Shelf Number: 328.73092/OB12a/COMPACT/DISC
Presidential contender, Barack Obama, reads his own bestselling book, blending memoir with his political views. His polished delivery allows his strength of character to shine in this audio version. The result is the impression of a likable, reasonable, and trustworthy man with a good sense of humor (who does a surprisingly good George W. Bush imitation). |
