smooth operation of the
library, but tasks vary
from library to library, so
please check with your

Summer At the Library Program
- Enroll children
- Answer questions about the program
- Help children set reading goals
- File sign up cards in alphabetical order
- Assist children with recording their reading progress
- Assist children in locating books
- Enter children in drawing when a
reading goal has been met
Routine Tasks
- Straighten paperback books
- Tidy up library area
- Sharpen pencils
- File sign up cards in alphabetical order
- Return books left on tables to circulation
desk to be checked in
- Process & organize summer reading
materials so they’re ready for use
- Check inventory of contracts & alert
librarian if more are needed
Shelving Books
- Organize books on a cart
- Shelve books in correct areas
- Shelve paperbacks by category
Children’s Programs
- Greet children & parents at entrance
- Help with program set-up
(arranging/moving chairs, etc.)
Special Assignments
• Prepare bulletin boards &/or displays
• Water plants
• Help with rearranging shelf locations, etc.
• Organize magazines
• Cut Paper
• Distribute Supplies
