Free eMedia Classes Offered At Edmond Library

So you finally got that Kindle or Nook eReader. You know you can borrow eBooks from the library or buy them from a variety of online book sellers. Great. Now what?

You don’t have to be a technophobe to be left in a state of confusion when faced with a new gizmo for the first time. What you need is someone to patiently instruct you and get you started using it, and that’s where the Edmond Library, 10 S. Boulevard, comes in.

Get To Know Steampunk at MLS Libraries

Take a time when steam power was cutting edge technology, such as in Victorian England, or America in the nineteenth century. Now apply that technology to the world of the future, as in the novels of Jules Verne or H.G. Wells. That way of seeing things, and the culture that fosters it, is steampunk.

Southern Oaks Library to Close On September 10th For Move to Renovated Location

The Southern Oaks Library, which has been temporarily located in the Almonte Shopping Center at 2914 S.W. 59th Street, will close on Monday, September 10th to get everything moved back to the newly renovated Southern Oaks Library site at 6900 S. Walker. The renovated library will re-open on Tuesday, September 25 at 3:30 p.m.

Tai Chi Classes For Seniors Offered at Northwest Library

Some people may joke about it, but seniors know that an off-balance fall can be serious business.

That’s why the Northwest Library, 5600 N.W. 122nd Street, and the Oklahoma City-County Health Department are combining to present a series of Tai Chi classes to help seniors increase balance and flexibility while reducing stress and protecting against falls. Beginning on Tuesday, August 7, the classes will meet every Tuesday and Thursday beginning at 2:00p.m.

Bethany Library to Close for One Day, August 10

The Bethany Library, 3510 N. Mueller, will be closed August 10 for repairs. The Library will reopen to normal operating hours on August 11, 2012.
