Ralph Ellison Library Closing for Two Day

The Metropolitan Library System announced that the Ralph Ellison Library, 2000 N.E. 23rd Street, will close temporarily on Tuesday, September 3 and Wednesday, September 4 to finish repairs to the library.

“Produced by the company that made ‘An Inconvenient Truth,’ this movie presents the facts about a possible shortage of clean water in the near future,” said librarian Sally McCurry. “The film also presents plans for what we can do now to prevent that kind of disaster. Get Ready To Write Your Novel With Belle Isle Library Event

Sometimes it seems as if anyone who can use a pencil can write a book, but there’s a lot more to it than just writing a series of incidents in chronological order.

If you’re ready to find out what’s involved, and then put pen to paper, come to the Belle Isle Library, 5501 N. Villa, for the “Jumpstart the Novel” series of workshops. M.M. Cox, author of the well received Teen Mobster series of YA novels, will instruct and lead discussion for the six-week course that begins on Tuesday, August 13 at 7:00 p.m., and continues every Tuesday through September 17.

Most of us think of keeping a journal as a means of recording our own personal histories, but there are more benefits than that.

The Belle Isle Library, 5501 N. Villa, is presenting a workshop called “Journal Writing For Everyone: Journal to the Self” on Saturday, August 10, at 1:00 p.m.

The Metropolitan Library System announced that the Ralph Ellison Library, 2000 N.E. 23rd Street, will close temporarily so repairs can be made to the drainage system.

The library will be closed Monday, August 12 through Wednesday, August 14. It will reopen on Thursday, August 15, at 9:00 a.m.. It will then re-close on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 3 and 4, reopening on Thursday, September 5 at 9:00 a.m.
