In celebration of Black History Month, this February the Metropolitan Library System is once again partnering with Rhythmically Speaking to present a new play by Oklahoma City playwright DWe Williams, “Nothing But Mercy: A Private Room Please!”

It’s the story of two strong women who never met but together pioneered a compassionate new way of life by undermining a cruel old one.

Piano Concert for Mozart’s Birthday At Belle Isle Library

What constitutes the genius of musical composition? “Neither a lofty degree of intelligence nor imagination nor both together go to the making of genius. Love, love, love, that is the soul of genius.”

And those are the words of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, music’s great gift to the world and the virtual birthday boy on Sunday, January 26 at 2:00 p.m. when Belle Isle Library presents noted pianist Wayne McEvilly playing Mozart’s first three piano sonatas. Belle Isle Library is located at 5501 N. Villa.

History Book Club Meets to Discuss The Arthurian Legends at Edmond Library

When asked about the truth of the legends of King Arthur, Winston Churchill replied, “It is all true, or it ought to be.”

Find out how many of the myths are true when the History Book Club meets at Edmond Library to discuss the book “Worlds of Arthur: Facts and Fictions of the Dark Ages” by Guy Halsall. The sessions will be led by Dr. Michael Springer, UCO Associate Professor of History on January 28 at 6:30 p.m. Edmond Library is located at 10 S.
