Meet the Author - Erin Taylor Young

Local author Erin Taylor Young talks about her book, Surviving Henry, based on her family’s canine catastrophe, at the Northwest Library Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m.

Pet lovers will understand how this author began her adventures with Henry. His eyes promised love and obedience, but puppy eyes can be deceiving. Listen as she shares some funny stories about her life with Henry, a reading from her book, and how she developed her writing.

Read to the Moon!

Reading can take children all kinds of places, even the moon! The Capitol Hill Library, 334 SW 26th St., and the OKC Astronomy Club celebrate the 45th anniversary of the first moon landing. Future astronauts can launch in for this program Sunday, July 20, at 2 p.m. The event will encourage literacy and offer lessons about astronomy and history. It is open to families, children and teens. Apollo 11 landed on the moon July 20, 1969.

Creative Writing Workshop Offered at Ralph Ellison Library

Dream of being a writer, but lack the confidence, skills or just wonder where to start?

Dust off that old manuscript and get ready for some inspiration with author Quraysh Ali Lansana at the Ralph Ellison Library, 2000 NE 23rd, on July 10 at 6pm.

The library and OCU’s Red Earth MFA offer this summer’s workshop for adults for the second year in a row. No writing experience is necessary. Participants should bring their writing materials.
