Good Deeds and Reads Round Out Summer Reading Program

Two new components of the Metropolitan Library’s Summer Reading program give participants the options to Read It Forward and pay it forward. Historically, the program offers the benefits of reading, reaching goals, attending entertaining and educational events and earning incentives and drawing prizes, but now readers can do good deeds too.

The Metropolitan Library System will be closed Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

Regular service hours will resume Sunday, July 5.

The creation of art is not limited to humans. Animals can create too! A traveling exhibit featuring animal artists is temporarily housed in the Downtown Library’s atrium. This unique exhibit features nine original pieces of artwork by Oklahoma City Zoo animals.

The Big Bad Wolf is on the loose in Midwest and it’s up to the citizens to catch him! Take a walk through an interactive story that leads participants on a journey through Joe B. Barnes Regional Park Thursday, June 4, from 9 a.m. though 12 p.m.
