    It’s Thanksgiving, that time of year when we all think of pie, turkey, afternoon naps, and spending the weekend watching football with the family. For some it’s a joyous occasion, but for others it means that dreaded once-a-year meeting with the weird uncle that smells like sardines and gym socks and tells you you should have been a podiatrist. If you fall into the latter category you might find yourself alone, lost in a good book while trying to forget the family drama in the next room.     You might think that nothing interesting has ever happened to your family but that might be a mistake. History is more than just a collection of facts and dates, wars and treaties, and unpronounceable names. All that history was made by real people – our ancestors.
