Program Description

Event Description

Celebrate Japanese Children's Day by making you own Koinoburi windsocks.  In Japanese culture, the carp symbolizes strength and courage.  This day was previously recognized as Boy's Festival.  Families hoped their sons would grow up strong and healthy like the carps.  Learn more about this celebration and make your own Koinoburi to represent your family. Kit includes craft materials to make two carps including liquid water color, oil pastels, gold paint pen, dowel rods, glue, and string.

Kits are limited to ONE per FAMILY. Kits can be picked up at Northwest Library from Wednesday, May 4th, through Saturday, May 14th. Registered customers must pick up kits by Saturday at 5:00 PM or call the library at (405) 231-8650 to make alternate pick up arrangements, as any remaining kits will be made available to waitlisted customers on Sunday.
