Program Description

Event Description

FOR THOSE WHO COULD NOT COME TO THE PROGRAM ON NOV 15, THIS IS A TAKE HOME KIT. Please register each child INDIVIDUALLY. There is no waitlist for this kit. If you cannot pick up yours by Saturday November 19 at 5pm, please let us know and we'll hold it for you. Otherwise, any remaining kits will be placed in a giveaway basket on Sunday.

This month we will learn about porcupines, read the Chippewa legend of how she got her quills, and then create faux birch bark to make a porcupine with prickly quills. Be sure to check out our books on porcupines and other forest creatures or our books on Native American legends while you're at the library picking up your kit! A booklist with suggested titles is included in the kit.

Things you will need at home: 1 tsp water, a small mixing cup for whitewash, a sharpened #2 pencil, markers (I used yellow and brown), scissors, and school glue.

Disclaimer(s)

Warning: Kit contains small parts that could represent a choking hazard. It is not intended for children under 3. It is encouraged that an adult supervise children while using this Metropolitan Library System Take & Make Bag.
