Event Description

Join us for a virtual OKC StorySLAM, co-presented by the Metropolitan Library System!

The OKC StorySLAM is a live-monthly storytelling event that has taken place in Oklahoma City since 2005. Each OKC StorySLAM has a theme, and all participants tell stories based off of the chosen theme. All stories must be true, told without notes, and must be told in 7 minutes or less.

“The hill we climb, if only we done it: Because being American is more than a pride we inherit…
It’s the past we step onto, and how we repair it.”
Amanda Gorman, January 20, 2021

This OKC StorySLAM theme is inspired by "The Hill We Climb," the poem which was written and recited by National Youth Poet Laureate, Amanda Gorman at the inauguration of U.S. President Joe Biden. As Americans, the freedoms we enjoy were won through struggle and strife...and we are still fighting for freedom. Tell us your story of working to build the American dream, striving for a more equitable world, and climbing that hill.

Join us for the July OKC StorySLAM as we celebrate stories and how they bring us together.

Visit our library's Facebook page on July 25 at 7pm for this Facebook Live event.
