Program Description

Event Description

Feeling a bit Inside Out as you had back to school during a pandemic? This kit features 5 Fun Mindfulness Activities for Children. What is Mindfulness? It is a practice where you use the five senses to engage physically and non-judgmentally with the world around you. When you do a task with mindful awareness, you do it with 100% of your energy and attention. Practicing mindfulness is incredibly empowering for children (and adults). It can help them better manage stress and anxiety when it does occur, and it helps with self-regulation, promotes positive emotions and self-compassion.

You'll receive a tips handout with the 5 activities, a booklist with some great resources, and instructions on how to create a calm down jar (or hush jar, as it is often called). The kit will include glue and glitter; you'll need to provide an empty bottle or jar, water, and a bowl to whisk it all together. Shake it up and shake it out!

Kits are one per FAMILY and can be picked up at Northwest Library from Wednesday August 19th through Saturday August 22nd during curbside pickup hours. Any duplicate registrations will be deleted. Due to high demand for these kits, all print outs and instructions will be posted here on the SUNDAY after the last day of pickup so that families with siblings or others who may not have had the opportunity to register can reproduce the kit at home.
