Event Description

The Southern Oaks Library Fan Fiction and Fan Art contest was founded by John Hilbert. In dedication to John's work, the contest continues to recognize the remarkable talents of people in our community.
February 1, 2020, is the first day to submit entries to the Southern Oaks Library Fan Fiction and Fan Art contest. Fan Art may be any medium and contain original characters but must contain copyrighted characters as the main theme. Similar rules apply to Fan Fiction. The last day to submit your work is Sunday, March 22nd, 2020 at 6:00 pm. The announcement party will be held at the Southern Oaks Library on Saturday, March 28th, 2020 from 1:30-3:30 pm. The announcement party is open to all ages but children younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult. You must be present to win. Prizes will include certificates, DVDs, plushies, and more!

Rules for Submitting Fan Art
• Only one entry per contestant in the Fan Art category
• You may include original characters, but Fan Art must contain a copyrighted character as the main theme.
• Fan Art is not restricted to any age category or genre.
• Contestant must be able to carry the Fan Art into the judging area.
• Fan Art can be created in any medium.
• Entries can be submitted at the Southern Oaks Library or through email to cjones@metrolibrary.org.
• Use only your own work. You will be disqualified if you are found plagiarizing.
• Fan Art must include a disclaimer. Disclaimer forms are available at the Southern Oaks Information Desk.
