Event Description

Perhaps no modern reinterpretation of medieval chivalry has been so successful in positively identifying a group of individuals as that which in WW1 and the early twentieth century became integral to defining the very essence of what a military aviator should be. This presentation describes how Allied and Axis pilots of the Great War (1914-1918) and the public fastened on to the medieval notion of honorable solider to create the enduring myth of the Knights of the Air.
