Author Liza Wiemer (The Assignment) joins us for Litfest 2021! In this online Zoom lesson, we’ll explore different techniques that will help you create unforgettable characters. Perfect for anyone who is getting started on a novel or writers who want some guidance developing their characters. We’ll do some hands-on exercises, explore values and conflicts as well as ways to dig deep into your characters’ psyche. Have paper, pen or pencil available for writing activities.

About the author:
Liza Wiemer is an award-winning author and educator with over twenty-five years of teaching experience. Her second young adult novel, The Assignment, was published by Delacorte Press, which received the Sydney Taylor Notable Book Award, among others. To date, The Assignment will also be published in Russia, Poland, Italy, and South Korea. Hello?, her debut contemporary YA novel, was named a Goodreads Best Young Adult Novel of the Month. In addition, Liza has had two adult nonfiction books published and several short stories included in the New York Times bestselling Small Miracles series. She has had articles published in various newspapers and magazines. A graduate of UW-Madison, Liza has two married sons and lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her husband, Jim.
