Event Description

ROCK THE WORLD with us this Spring Break as we explore the contributions of five amazing women and sample activities for which they each were known. Join us as we get emPOWERed to follow in the footsteps of Alicia Alonso (Prima Ballerina), Ada Lovelace (Mathematician and Computer Programmer), Dr. Wangari Maathai (Environmentalist), Junko Tabei (Mountaineer) and Madame CJ Walker (Entrepeneur). The kit will include a colorful informational booklet with three activities to try at home for each famous female, supplies for those activities, and links to short podcasts in case you're interested in learning more! These activities are fun and informative for the whole family. Get a head start on the kit and place a hold on any (or all!) of the Rebel Girls or Good Night Stories For Rebel Girls books in the library's collection!

Activities and Podcasts are provided by Rebel Girls. Inc who "know the world will be better, stronger, and more just when girls have the same level of confidence as boys." They use storytelling to "show girls a universe of possibilities and inspire them to dream without limits. Because when she sees it, she can be it."

Kits are one per FAMILY. Any duplicate registrations will be deleted. Kits can be picked up at Northwest Library from Wednesday March 17th through Saturday March 20th during curbside pickup hours. Registered customers must pick up kits by Saturday 4 PM or call the library at (405) 231-8650 to make alternate pick up arrangements as any remaining kits will be made available to waitlisted customers on Sunday.
