Event Description

Calling all quilters, crafters and interested individuals! Help us create a Story/Memory Quilt of Hope. Document your story/memory of 2020 from your unique perspective using fabric to express your feelings. Suggestions: What life event did you experience in 2020? What do you hope for your future? Honor special memories of loved ones or happy milestones. The purpose of the Story/Memory Quilt of Hope is to document history as it happened from the voices and perspectives of those who lived it.

The fabric blocks submitted will be sewn together to create a memory quilt. After completion, the Story/Memory Quilt of Hope will be on display at the Southern Oaks Library and become a part of Special Collections at the Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library.

The fabric square can include embroidery, applique, 100% cotton patchwork or piece work. A beginner patchwork block kit and basic sewing instructions are available and can be picked up curbside at the Southern Oaks Library. Individuals preferring to use their own 13in x 13in fabric, can drop off submissions at the library. Signup and fabric kits will be available October 12 - November 22. Instructions and the release form are included in the kit. Questions? Please contact the Southern Oaks Library.
Limited to 30 block submissions.
