Cinema Mayflower/ Sparkle Plenty

Cinema Mayflower/ Sparkle Plenty

Description:

The Mayflower Theater was opened April 12, 1938 with a screening of Bing Crosby in “Pennies From Heaven”. In 1968 it was renamed Cinema Mayflower and gradually transitioned to screening adult films.  For some time, the building served as a porno theater with the vintage shop, Sparkle Plenty, housed on both sides, where the single entry doors are found. In 1991 and 1992, the building played host to club Planet Earth, a seminal venue for the punk movement in Oklahoma City.  Today, the building is the site of several restaurants including Hy Palace, Boba Tea Café and, most notably, Pho Kim Long.
