The Metropolitan Library System is gearing up for one of its most anticipated annual traditions: the Winter Reading Challenge. Beginning Jan. 1, adult readers across the county are invited to curl up with a cozy read and join the fun. 

From audiobooks on your commute to a favorite magazine or the novel you can’t put down, every kind of reading helps you make progress this winter. 

If you’re not sure what to read next, our librarians are ready to help you discover great picks to reach your goals. Try Tailored Titles for personalized recommendations or explore new categories on the Book Bingo card for prompts that inspire variety and adventure. 

Book Bingo cards are available at every Metro Library location and online at metrolibrary.org/bookbingo. Participants can track books directly on the card or log reading digitally in the Beanstack app by registering for Winter Reading 2026. Each title may be used only once per card, and completed cards must be turned in by Feb. 28. Only one entry per person may be submitted for prizes. 

Adults who read five books between Jan. 1 and Feb. 28 will earn a limited-edition, library-branded mug while supplies last and be entered into a drawing for a prize pack that includes Apple AirPods, cozy library merch, and a YMCA pass. 

Readers who complete the bingo card or read 25 books will qualify for a grand prize drawing that includes an iPad, additional library goodies, two VIP tickets to Literary Voices featuring Jonathan Franzen, and a YMCA membership. To be eligible for drawings, participants need to have a valid Metropolitan Library card number on file in Beanstack when logging their books.

Earn your prizes in three easy steps: 

1. Pick up your Book Bingo card at any Metro Library, download one at metrolibrary.org/bookbingo, or sign up digitally through Beanstack. 

2. Track your reading on the card or in Beanstack. 

3. Submit your completed card or finish logging in Beanstack by Feb. 28 to qualify for rewards and prize drawings.
