About Choctaw Library
The Metropolitan Library System has provided library services to the Choctaw community since the 1970s when, like in several smaller communities, the community hosted a bookmobile. In 1978, the library moved into a room at the Tri-City Youth and Family Center. In 1985, the library moved to a larger space in the Center. Tornado damage to the building caused it to close on May 3, 1999. The library reopened in a temporary location in the Choctaw Plaza on July 26, 2000, and in January 2004, the library opened in its new permanent home, located a block north of the 23rd Street business corridor on Muzzy Street.
The Choctaw Library offers a broad array of services, including public access computers, free Wi-Fi, copy/scan/fax/printing services, programs and events for all ages, and a robust local collection of physical materials for all interests and tastes. Additionally, the library features a large meeting room that can be booked and used by the public, as well as large covered outdoor patio spaces that can be used by the public, weather-permitting.
Book drop: to the right of the front entrance, set into the wall.
