Program Description

Event Description

Thick Descriptions' Signature Event, The Crowns Tea, celebrates the rich tradition of church hats and is a tribute to the book, "Crowns: Portraits of Black Women in Church Hats" by Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry. This event is an opportunity for attendees to learn about the power and cultural significance of hats.  All attendees are encouraged to wear a fancy hat, their "Sunday Best" attire and prepare to enjoy amazing food, tea, and learn about various human experiences. Adults and adult-supervised youth are welcome. To attend/register, send an email to hello@thickdescriptions.org or call 405-397-0584.
