Event Description
Join us for our First Amendment Heroes series with a special edition for Latino and Hispanic Heritage Month. Roberto Clemente was a Puerto Rican baseball player who faced prejudice throughout his career. Despite this prejudice, he was committed to not only becoming one of the greatest baseball players of all time, but confronting stereotypes and giving back to his community.
First Amendment Heroes is a program focusing on how various people throughout history have used their first amendment rights to make the world a better place.
This program will have a short presentation, followed by reading the Sequoyah nominated book Call Me Roberto!: Roberto Clemente Goes to Bat for Latinos, and a short craft. At the conclusion of the program we will be giving away a copy of the book signed by both the author and the illustrator! If you like this program look for more on the second Saturday of the month.
