Program Description

Event Description

Calling all kids Kindergarten through 5th grade! Each week we explore a new subject through books and activities.

This week we will read Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet. In Balloons Over Broadway, we meet the master puppeteer who invented the first balloons for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Melissa Sweet brings to life the inspirational story of the puppeteer who invented the giant balloons floating in the sky during the annual parade celebrating Thanksgiving. After we read the story, we will create our own balloons for our own Belle Isle Thanksgiving Parade.  You'll use a balloon and you'll need to create a device that will make your balloon "float".
