Program Description

Event Description

Join us for an interactive automotive safety workshop in celebration of the Route 66 Centennial! In this hands-on program, an automotive instructor from Francis Tuttle Technology Center and student assistants will guide participants through essential pre-trip vehicle checks every driver should know before embarking on a long-distance journey.

The program begins with a classroom session covering the fundamentals of vehicle maintenance and safety inspection, including what to look for and why these checks matter. Participants will learn about fluid levels, tire condition, lights, brakes, and other critical components that can make the difference between a smooth road trip and a roadside emergency.

Following the classroom portion, we'll head outside for a live demonstration on a classic car, where attendees can see these inspection techniques in action and ask questions. Whether you're planning your own Route 66 adventure or simply want to be a more informed driver, this program will equip you with practical knowledge to keep you safe on America's highways.

Perfect for drivers of all experience levels, from teens preparing for their first road trip to seasoned travelers looking to refresh their automotive knowledge.
