Event Description

Did you know Oklahoma's land runs of the late 1800s have become the stuff of legend, inspiring countless depictions in literature and film? However, it's essential to explore the actual history behind these races. The individuals who participated in these competitions played a critical role in the founding of the State of Oklahoma.

OKC's origin story is a bizarre tale that reads like a wild west movie script. It all began with the Land Run, a chaotic event that transformed a previously empty patch of prairie into a bustling city of 10,000 in a single afternoon. The U.S. government never allowed anything quite like it to happen again, and this formative absurdity set the tone for everything that followed in OKC and it all started on a single extraordinary day.

Enjoy this OETA award-winning documentary series showcasing the history of Oklahoma that you probably never learned in school.
