Program Description

Event Description

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

Content Warning: This presentation contains sensitive content that some people may find offensive or disturbing. It is most appropriate for parents, high school students, and mature middle school students (with a parent present).

This important presentation, by Curtis Coleman, Associate Professor of Computer Science at Oklahoma Christian University and Director of the Cybersecurity Education Center, will help families understand and protect against cyberbullying and online harassment. Parents and caregivers will learn what cyberbullying looks like, how to recognize warning signs in their children, and the effective 4 R's protection strategy to keep kids safe online. The program also covers practical cyber-safety tips for the whole family and provides helpful information about cyber laws and available support resources. Attendees will gain confidence in knowing how to respond appropriately when children or adults encounter these online challenges, including when and how to seek help from authorities and support services.
