Program Description

Event Description

Lew Madden is a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant and Certified Ophthalmic Scribe. Madden will be educating families and parents/guardians on the importance of eye health exams. Early intervention of refractive errors can drastically improve a child's learning and comprehension skills, since 80% of our learning is done visually. The goal is to leave caregivers feeling confident in what to watch for when it comes to their child's vision/eye health and to have a greater understanding of the eyes themselves. They will present on the signs that caregivers should watch for, basic eye anatomy and physiology, what an eye exam consists of, what we look for during the exam, common diagnosis, and some information about clinics. The presentation will also include some educational handouts that can be taken home.
