Program Description

Event Description

Harriet Powers who was born into slavery used her quilts to tell the story of both her daily and spiritual life. Her most famous quilt depicts scenes of the Bible along with local folktales of her community. Her quilts were truly poetry in motion.

This kit will feature postcards with imagery of Harriet Powers' quilt blocks. You will be able to affix colorful stickers to the postcards in order to make the beautiful storytelling quilt patterns.
Keep the postcards for yourself or send out to friends and family!

Kits are available in limited quantities, please call ahead to check on availability.
