Event description:
The history of Oklahoma's early pharmacy & medical health professionals is collected, preserved, & shared at a unique & fascinating institution: the Oklahoma Frontier Drugstore Museum in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
The westward migration of pioneers, shopkeepers, & families also included pharmacists & other health care providers. The museum collections include artifacts & ephemera from this unique period of history, & reflect the history of pharmacy & medicine in the 19th & 20th centuries in Oklahoma Territory, Indian Territory, & the new state of Oklahoma.
Presenter:
Sandi M. Colby is a west coast transplant who moved to Oklahoma in 2015 & to Guthrie in 2021. She fell in love with the state & its history. She is currently completing MS degrees in History & Museum Studies at UCO, with a special interest in women's & Oklahoma history.
Sandi works at the Oklahoma History Center Museum as a coordinator for the Traveling Trunk program & volunteers with the Oklahoma Frontier Drugstore Museum as a docent & board member.
