Program description:
2026 marks the 100th anniversary of Route 66, the road that shaped the history of Oklahoma & of the nation. For Bethany & other cities along the road, Route 66 was integral to community culture & development for decades, & its impact continues to this day.
Join us to kick off this centennial year with a special presentation from Jim Ross & Shellee Graham, authors of Route 66: the first 100 years!
Jim Ross & Shellee Graham will share stories gathered during their three decades traveling, researching, & documenting the history of Route 66.
Working together and individually, they have celebrated this history through many published works, as well as in photography, film, & preservation activism. Among their many awards, their works have earned the Oklahoma Historical Society Citation of Merit, the John Steinbeck Award for Historic Preservation, the Wallis Literary Award, & finalist selection for the Oklahoma Book Award.
During the Our Oklahoma History series, historians will share fascinating and lesser-known tales from Oklahoma's rich history. Join us, you won't want to miss it!
