Program Description

Event Description

Belle Isle Library is hosting a dusk unveiling of the newly installed Seed that Nourishes sculpture. Before the unveiling, families can come and enjoy stories and crafts to learn more about seeds, the power of knowledge, and the power of community. OKC Beautiful will be providing activities. At 7:30 PM, stories and crafts begin until the unveiling at 8:30 PM.

The sculpture, which is almost 8 feet tall and 6.5 feet wide, was fabricated in powder-coated aluminum and colorful art glass. Emblazoned in the sculpture’s design is an excerpt from U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo’s poem “Remember:” You are the universe, and the universe is you. Those words and the sculptural form that bears them, represent the power of knowledge that resides in every Oklahoman and that is accessible through our community library. The words represent the Seed that Nourishes and belongs to each and every member of our community. The artist team is Manifold Creative Concepts, made up of Martin Donlin, Brett McDanel, Anton Morton and Oklahoma-born United States Poet Laureate Joy Harjo.
