Program Description

Event Description

Get ready to dig into your imagination and discover the wild, surprising, totally original artist inside you. Unearth the Artist Within is a creative drawing workshop designed to help you unlock stories through lines, shapes, and marks—no “perfect” drawings required.

You’ll explore radical drawing foundations that change the way you think about art:

  1. Drawing is a verb—it’s an action, a process, a way to explore.
  2. Everyone can draw! Yes, even if you think you can’t.
  3. Drawings aren’t “good” or “bad”—they’re simply part of the story you’re unearthing.

Working together, we’ll create fun, cool, weird, and wildly unexpected drawings. You’ll learn some of the famous drawing games and techniques used by artists like Frida Kahlo and Lynda Barry to spark imagination, loosen up, and get creativity flowing.

This isn’t about coloring inside the lines—it’s about discovering the shapes, creatures, ideas, and stories hiding beneath the surface of your own mind. Come experiment, explore, and see what surprising images you can dig up.
