Program Description

Event Description

In conjunction with our Young Storytellers publishing workshop, the Edmond Library presents our summer Writing Party series. Each hour-long event is a stand-alone opportunity for your young storyteller to study a model text and write their own story modeled after it in a community of other young writers.

Have a young person in your family who loves to write? The Writing Parties are the perfect chance for them to gain experience drafting a complete story. Each party will give aspiring authors the chance to read and analyze a much-loved picture book and show them how to glean ideas for their own writings from it. Even teens and tweens who hope to write novels in the future will benefit from this practice in developing and drafting a story to completion. And working, sharing, receiving feedback, and laughing with a community of their writing peers will help each of our storyteller hopefuls feel right at home and enjoy writing in a fun, friendly writing environment.

This event is for ages 7 through 14 (rising 2nd through rising 8th grade) ONLY. Completed drafts will be eligible for submission to our Young Storytellers publishing workshop in December. Participation in Writing Party does not guarantee admission to the Young Storytellers program.
