Oklahoma is home to 39 Sovereign Tribal Nations, but many Oklahomans still do not know much about Native peoples outside of what they see in media and are taught in schools. The widespread stereotypes and misleading information leads to negative situations for Native students' cultures, religions, and educations, which is why the Department of Indian Education was formed.
