In the air, water, and even under foot, insects inhabit every domain of our daily lives, performing essential functions that balance our fragile ecosystem on earth.

We're partnering with Neighborhood Forest to give free trees to kids to plant on Earth Day (April 22, 2026)! 

The Southern Oaks Library Fan Fiction and Fan Art contest was founded by John Hilbert. In dedication to John's work, the contest continues to recognize the remarkable talents of people in our community.

Celebrate World Puppets Day all month long by searching for images of famous puppets all around the library! When you are done, bring your sheet back to the desk for a prize.

Come to Almonte to participate in our Women's History Month Rosie the Riveter-themed scavenger hunt for kids!
